Nollywood veteran and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed confidence that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will win the 2027 presidential election and take over power from President Bola Tinubu.
The ADC, once a fringe party, has in recent months witnessed an influx of prominent politicians across Nigeria, with its leaders declaring readiness to challenge the dominance of the APC and PDP in the 2027 general elections.
Okonkwo, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, said the ADC has grown into a formidable force following its adoption by a coalition of political heavyweights, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, ex-Governors Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obi, and Nasir el-Rufai.
According to him, the wave of defections from both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ADC is a clear indication that Nigerians are yearning for change.
“The ADC will form the next government in Nigeria. We stand a chance in every election in this country,” Okonkwo declared. “We are going to form the next government in Nigeria and send Tinubu to Bourdillon.”
The lawyer-turned-actor noted that the party’s real strength will be tested in the 2027 polls, as its current leadership under David Mark was not involved in earlier primaries that produced candidates in some states.
“But I wouldn’t say the same thing for any election for which the primaries have been conducted before the coming into existence of David Mark’s leadership,” Okonkwo explained.
“Because we were not part of the people who decided that. That’s why I’m saying the true test of ADC will be in 2027.”
Speaking on the party’s national spread, Okonkwo stressed that the ADC now has structures across all 36 states of the federation. He also disclosed that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is leading the ADC in Rivers State.
“In Rivers, the obvious party head is Rotimi Amaechi. And that shows you how the ADC is now the true third force in Nigerian politics,” he said.
Okonkwo maintained that the ruling APC has failed to deliver on its promises, adding that the ADC has positioned itself as the vehicle for rescuing Nigeria from economic hardship, insecurity, and failed governance.
“With the calibre of leaders now in our fold and the support we are receiving from ordinary Nigerians, it is only a matter of time before Nigerians realize that the ADC is the party to restore hope and rebuild this country,” he added.
