Afolabi Orekoya, an aide to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladipupo Adebutu, on Saturday said his principal will never be involved in any frivolous claims about his indigenship.

Orekoya disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

Orekoya said that the clarification became necessary to silence the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Arabambi Abayomi, who had recently attacked the former Remo federal lawmaker on the basis that he recently claimed to have links with the Egbas.

The media aide condemned Arabambi for always politicising everything in a bit to achieve cheap popularity.

The statement disclosed that, the fact that Adebutu recently celebrated 92 years remembrance of his great-grandfather, Pa Alimi Adebutu who lived, died and was buried at Ijeun Akoni in Odeda Local Government remained incontrovertible.

The statement partly read, “One wonders how the revealing story that Hon. Adebutu’s great-grandfather died and was buried at Ijeun Akoni in Odeda Local Government has become a big threat to some people.

“Thankfully, Adebutu did not lie about his connection to Ijeun Akoni like some people who had nothing to prove their connection with any part of Ogun State but claimed indigene of the state.

“If Arabambi understood the account given by Adebutu, he would not have goofed with his needless and baseless release.”
