Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun on Thursday empowered 2,000 women and youths in the state with Point of Sale (POS) terminals, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Business Registration Certificates, and start-up grants.

Adeleke, at the event tagged “Imole Empowerment Scheme 1.0” in Osogbo, said that the initiative was built on capacity building and training for the beneficiaries to grow and expand their businesses.

The governor said the empowerment was also aimed at equipping women and youth with skills, opportunities, and support to thrive.

“This initiative is targeted at 2,000 women and youths across the 30 local governments and area offices in the state

.

“Each beneficiary will walk away with a CAC Business Registration Certificate, a POS terminal, and a start-up grant to immediately begin their journey into entrepreneurship and financial independence.

“This scheme is a practical demonstration of our resolve to take empowerment beyond slogans by giving our people the tools to create wealth, jobs, and prosperity,” he said.

Adeleke, however, urged the beneficiaries to use the tools wisely, grow their businesses and also empower others.

“Together, we are building a prosperous state where every citizen has a chance to thrive,” the governor said.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Mr Bayo Ogungbangbe, said that since the establishment of the ministry in July 2023, it had continued to champion cooperative development and grassroots empowerment across the state.

Ogungbangbe noted that the program was not just a presentation of empowerment items but a testimony to this administration’s commitment to sustainable development, youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, and inclusive economic growth. (NAN) (www.nannes.ng)
