The Accord Party in Osun State will today (Wednesday) formally declare Governor Ademola Adeleke as its governorship candidate for the 2026 election.

Naijaonpoint reports that the party’s state chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, confirmed this while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, noting that the governor remains the sole aspirant for the ticket.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke is our sole candidate for the 2026 governorship election. We are declaring him today. As you know, he formally defected to our party in November and we publicly announced him on Tuesday,” Akande said.

According to him, about 150 delegates drawn from the 30 local government areas of the state, five per council, will participate in the exercise.

The declaration comes a day after Governor Adeleke publicly announced his defection to the Accord Party and formally declared his intention to seek re-election.

Speaking at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, on Tuesday, Adeleke said he joined the Accord Party on November 6 after “weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”

He told party members and supporters that the decision was aimed at ensuring continuity in delivering good governance in the state.

The party’s primary will be held in Osogbo, with the governor expected to emerge as its standard bearer for the August 8, 2026, governorship election
