The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it will not engage in political mudslinging with the opposition ahead of the 2026 governorship election, insisting that the people of Osun will freely choose and defend their votes.
This bold remark was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Sunday Bisi, who emphasised that the party remains focused on service delivery and grassroots mobilisation rather than electoral manipulation.
Bisi described as baseless the allegations of vote-rigging plans purportedly levelled against the PDP by opposition elements.
He maintained that the ruling party is not plotting to import fake voters or manipulate the outcome of the forthcoming election.
“We won’t join issues with the opposition. We have no plan to rig the 2026 election.
“We are sure Osun people will vote for the PDP and stand by their votes next year. Our records of good performance speak for us,” the chairman said.
Bisi added that Osun citizens are politically aware and will base their decision on the performance of all political parties, expressing confidence that the PDP will emerge victorious.
Adeleke will win again, PDP assures
While affirming the popularity of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Bisi stated that the PDP structure in Osun remains intact and ready to deliver a resounding victory at the polls.
“Osun PDP remains solid. We affirm that Governor Adeleke will win Osun votes resoundingly in 2026,” he said.
The party chairman further hinted at strong political alignment between the Osun PDP and the Presidency, stating that President Bola Tinubu will also receive electoral support from Osun voters in 2027.
“Through the support of Osun PDP, President Tinubu will also win the Osun election,” he added.
Bisi concluded by reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to democratic values, urging all political actors in the state to prioritise the will of the people over political desperation.
