AFCON 2025’s most-expensive stars
1. Achraf Hakimi – €80 million
The Paris Saint-Germain right-back is the 2025 African Player of the Year. The 27-year-old had an eventful 2024/2025 campaign for his club side, winning the French Ligue 1, Coupe de la Ligue, UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League titles.
He also played a crucial role as Luis Enrique’s side got to the final of the maiden 32-team FIFA Club World Cup tournament, but they lost the final to Chelsea.

Last season, the former Real Madrid defender wasn’t just solid at the back, but his availability and efficiency in attack aided PSG as he scored nine goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions for Le Parisien.
The Morocco captain will be looking to fire the Atlas Lions to a gold medal at the AFCON 2025 tournament.

2. Victor Osimhen – €75 million
The Galatasaray striker achieved success in his debut season in Turkey. He carted every domestic title for the Cimbom Aslan, whilst winning the Golden Boot in the Turkish Super Lig.
Although he missed out on the CAF POTY award to Achraf Hakimi, Osimhen was in the top three, alongside Mohamed Salah.
After narrowly missing out on the AFCON 2023 title, the former Napoli striker will be looking to do one better with the Super Eagles in Morocco.

3. Bryan Mbeumo – €75 million
The Cameroon winger scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in the English Premier League last season before sealing his big-money move to Manchester United last summer.
He’s scored seven for the Red Devils this season and will be hoping to power the five-time AFCON winners to the latter stages of the competition.

4. Omar Marmoush – €65 million
The Egyptian attacker joined Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for €70m in January after he scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists in 26 games for Frankfurt in just the first half of the season.

He scored the 2024/2025 Premier League goal of the season. While he’s struggled for minutes this season, his quality is unmatched, as he proved last night, scoring a goal and winning the man of the match award in Egypt’s AFCON 2025 opener against Zimbabwe.

5. Amad Diallo – €50 million
After missing out on the AFCON 2023 tournament last year, the 23-year-old is set to help Ivory Coast defend their AFCON title.
Amad’s versatility sets him apart from all of Emerse Fae’s attackers and that makes him their most valuable player.
