Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has praised the Super Eagles for their impressive performance during the 120 minutes of action against hosts Morocco at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to reports, Nigeria was edged out 4–2 on penalties following an intense semi-final encounter at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
In a message shared on his X account on Thursday, the former Anambra State governor described the contest as a hard-fought battle, stressing that the players had every reason to remain proud.
According to Obi, it was a battle well fought, and there was no cause for heads to be bowed.
“Thank you for a beautiful 120 minutes of incredible play. You showed your strength and prowess against all odds.
“The journey is not over. You have made the nation proud. Keep your heads high; the Eagle never stopped soaring.
“There is another stage, let’s go get that medal, you have done well,” he said.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Egypt on Saturday in the third-place play-off in Casablanca.
