WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Inaugural Afenifere Public Symposium & 97th Posthumous Celebration of the Life and Times of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the late Leader of Afenifere, who will be buried on Saturday, 3rd May, 2025, at Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State, held at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos on Thursday, 10th April, 2025. The Theme of the Symposium was – AFENIFERE: IDENTITY, IDEAS AND IDEOLOGY, and the Keynote Address titled, “THE AFENIFERE NIGERIA NEEDS” was delivered by Elder Statesman, Solomon Asemota,Esq., SAN. Other Speakers and (Topics) were: Balogun Akin Osuntokun (The Political Ideology of Afenifere); Chief Tokunbo Ajasin (The History of Afenifere); Dr. Akin Fapohunda (The Political Programs of Afenifere); Chief Supo Shonibare ( Life and Times of Pa Ayo Adebanjo); Chief Sola Ebiseni (What is Afenifere Today and Where Are We Now); Mr. Dele Farotimi ( The Future of Afenifere). Many people from all walks of life were in attendance to participate in the Symposium and to honor Late Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Activist, Lawyer and revered leader of Afenifere. Amongst eminent personalities in attendance were: HRH Oba Oladipo Olaitan, Acting Leader of Afenifere Worldwide; Ambassador Godknows Boladei Igali, Chairman, Pan Niger Delta Forum(PANDEF); Prince Okey Nwadinobi, Deputy President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo; Chief Olabode George,member PDP Board of Trustees; Mr. Peter Obi, 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate; Ogbeni Raul Aregbesola, former Governor of Osun State; Dr Oby Ezekwesili, Founder, School of Politics Policy and Governance; Dr. Biodun Shobanjo, Chairman, Pa Ayo Adebanjo Burial Planning Committee; Pastor Ituah Ighodalo; Mr. Stanley Kavwam, National Publicity Secretary, Middle Belt Forum; Dr. Konyin Ajayi, SAN, Partner, Olaniwun Ajayi LP; Mr. Jimi Agbaje, Pharmacist & Politician; Prince Chris Odinakachukwu Igwe, Founder, Chrisnak Group. The Symposium provided a good opportunity for Nigerians to know more about the Mission of Afenifere which is to: “Bring together all ethnic nationalities to foster a truly federal entity in building a nation state, where equality in opportunity, selfless governance and transparency in the management of the collective wealth of the nation is elevated to be the essence of governance”. Attendance at the event also showed that the unity of Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndigbo championed by Pa Ayo Adebanjo when he came up with the word, OHANIFERE, an amalgamation of OHANAEZE & AFENIFERE, was alive and well, as exemplified by the large number of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in attendance led by the national leadership which included Prince Okey Nwadinobi, Deputy President General; Engr Emeka Sibeudu, Secretary General; Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, Vice President General (Delta State); Dr Ezechukwu Eze, National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Bismarck Orji, Assistant National Publicity Secretary.
