WATCH THE VIDEO HERE PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has urged Africa to seize the moment and prioritize self-development, emphasizing the continent’s abundant resources, talent, and capacity for growth. He made this statement yesterday during a meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Both leaders are attending the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, taking place from January 12 to 18. Tinubu is expected to use the summit to highlight his administration’s reforms in energy efficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development. In a post on his official X handle, @officialABAT, the president stated: “This evening, on the eve of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, I had meaningful conversations with Rwandan President Paul Kagame. Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity. We must look inward to improve intra-African trade and collaboration to benefit the African people and the continent. The time for Africa is now.” Earlier, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga revealed that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, had invited Tinubu to the summit. Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, where he was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. The President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, confirmed the arrival in a post on X. The summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” aims to unite global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and socio-economic progress. Tinubu is expected to deliver a speech addressing his administration’s key reforms. Additionally, the President and his delegation are scheduled to meet UAE officials to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and exploring economic and diplomatic partnerships. The forum serves as a platform for policymakers, business leaders, and civil society representatives to share strategies for transitioning to a sustainable global economy. Tinubu was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and APC Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
