A leading platform for promoting safety and health initiatives across Africa,the Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE), has called for greater commitment to workplace safety by governments and businesses across Africa.
In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of AfriSAFE, Femi Da-Silva, said that commitment to workplace safety has positive knock-on effects, including reduction of business costs and enhancing employee well-being.
According to Da-Silva, AfriSAFE 2024 is poised to recognise and celebrate individuals, groups and organisations leading the charge of entrenching workplace safety and environmental sustainability across Africa.
He announced the commencement of nominations for the AfriSAFE 2024 event, while encouraging the public to nominate deserving individuals and organisations.
The AfriSAFE CEO said the month-long nomination process commenced on April 28, 2024 in commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
He said AfriSAFE 2024 event would take place in the “picturesque country of Zambia”
The statement reads: “It promises an unparalleled experience against the backdrop of Zambia’s rich cultural heritage and natural wonders. Zambia, renowned for its breathtaking Victoria Falls, stands as a beacon of natural beauty and adventure, making it an ideal setting for this year’s event.
“Nominees and organisations participating in AfriSAFE 2024 can anticipate a stimulating environment conducive to networking and collaboration, set amid Zambia’s tourist-friendly facilities. The event is endorsed by various organizations, including the Ministry of Tourism, Labour and Social Security of Zambia.
