WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Fortnite maker Epic Games waged a war with companies like Google and Apple about how they manage their app stores. However, while this was going on, it’s been dealing with its own drama. Epic Games was forced to send refunds to its Fortnite players, and people are starting to see them. Talk about a long-time coming! The U.S. FTC (Federal Trade Commission) took Epic Games to court over how it handles its micro-transactions within its most popular game. The case mentioned how Fortnite’s menus were confusing to most people, which cause many users to accidentally make purchases. Epic eventually settled and agreed to pay a hefty sum back to the affected users. This all went down back in 2022, which is par for the course for most legal procedures. Epic Games agreed to fork over $245 million to the users affected, which is nothing compared to the over $40 billion Fortnite has made since its launch. Basically, don’t expect the company to cancel the next season over this. Several users have reported receiving their refunds so far. People who want their refund needed to sign the appeal before October 10th. If you haven’t gotten your refund yet, don’t worry, as they’re still rolling out. So far, the FTC distributed refunds to over 600,000 players, totaling over $72 million. We don’t know about the roll-out pace, so users will need to hold tight for their refunds. If you missed the October 10th deadline, there may still be some hope for you. The FTC is now reviewing claims that people filed after the deadline. So, if you like to procrastinate, then you may still get some money back. Right now, there’s no word on what will happen with people who reported late, so we’ll keep you updated. Lastly, if you are just finding out about this, or you’ve been under that proverbial rock for the past two years, you can still file a claim. Just know that you have until January 10th to file it. That gives you 31 days to file so you better hurry!Fortnite players are getting their refunds two years down the road
