Nigerian producer cum music executive, Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, has revealed that the end of Mo’Hits record label, co-founded with D’banj, taught him a great lesson.

Naijaonpoint reports that Don Jazzy, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, said he almost quit music and moved abroad after the record label ended abruptly in 2012 due to disagreements between them.

The ‘Dorobucci’ crooner said his friends encouraged him to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born.

According to Don Jazzy, the experience made him stronger, adding that the incident made him realise that nothing can break him.

He said, “When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad. But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me.”

Naijaonpoint recalls that Following Mo’Hits’ split, Don Jazzy founded a new record label, Mavin Records, which became home to many of the former Mo’Hits artists (Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince) and new stars like Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, and Di’ja.

Its current roster includes artists such as Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Bayanni, Johnny Drille, and DJ Big N.

In 2024, Universal Music Group announced a majority investment in Mavin Global, further accelerating its expansion.
