Bandits have again attacked a village in Plateau State, killing at least seven people in Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area.
According to multiple reports, the attack occurred on Friday night in Bong village, Doemak District, where the assailants reportedly carried out a house-to-house operation, targeting women, children and the elderly.
Residents described the attackers as heavily armed, while survivors said most of the victims were those who could not escape in time.
Confirming the incident, a native of the area, Lawrence Dogari, said, “For now, I can confirm to you that over seven persons have been killed, while some persons are still missing.”
Danaan Cletus Sylvanus, the director of press and publicity to the executive chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council, also confirmed the attack.
“The council boss, Hon. Christopher Audu Manship, is condemning the attack on innocent persons and is collaborating with security operatives to ensure that the culprits are arrested,” Sylvanus said, adding that the council chairman would provide updates as more information becomes available.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Plateau communities. Gunmen had similarly attacked the Bum community in Jos South Local Government Area on Christmas Eve, killing seven people.
