The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria, and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) have jointly suspended Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro over an altercation on a movie set with his colleague, Peggy Ovire.
Naijaonpoint reports that the AGN president, Emeka Rollas, announced the suspension in a post via Instagram on Friday.
Rollas said the decision to suspend Arimoro comes from responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust” within Nollywood, stressing that AGN is a family, and every action taken must protect the well-being of its members.
According to the joint document dated 27 November 2025, the three guilds reviewed the findings of their disciplinary committees and concluded that Taiye Arimoro was the primary aggressor in the incident.
Arimoro was found to have assaulted the production manager and the driver, and also circulated a misleading live video that misrepresented the events and falsely dragged producer Peggy Ovire into the issue, even though she was not present during the initial altercation.
The guilds issued a unified decision suspending the movie star from all Nollywood productions until further notice.
According to the Guild, Arimoro is expected to make a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director, and to release a corrective video stating the actual sequence of events.
Taiye Arimoro has also been directed to return and complete his remaining scenes of the movie under supervised conditions, and to comply fully with any further instructions from the guilds.

I endorse this step not just as a leader, but as someone who understands the struggles, sacrifices, misunderstandings, and the silent battles many of our members face every day.
