In partnership with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) and the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EdoSPHCDA), the Foundation will inaugurate these facilities located in Owan West, Ikpoba Okha, Oredo, and Uhunmwode local government areas. This ribbon-cutting ceremony represents the first phase of the Foundation’s larger commitment to revamp 23 PHCs across Nigeria under the Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP). The ADHFP, initiated by PSHAN, aims to ensure that all Nigerians, irrespective of location or economic background, have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare services in each of the country’s 774 local government areas. Recognizing the urgent challenges in Nigeria’s healthcare system, such as poverty, inequality, and a rising disease burden, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation committed in November 2021 to adopt and renovate 23 PHCs, with 18 located in Edo State. These renovations reflect a transformative approach designed to elevate healthcare service delivery. The centres have been equipped with modern facilities and essential medical supplies, enhancing patient care and reinforcing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. Beyond addressing immediate healthcare needs, the project serves as a model for similar initiatives across Africa, advancing the goal of a healthier and more equitable continent. Commenting on the project, Mrs. Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, emphasized the importance of health to development: “A healthy population is fundamental to sustainable development.
