The Nigerian Air Force has announced a sweeping redeployment of its senior officers, a move aimed at boosting efficiency and aligning operations with the vision of the new Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.
At least 19 senior officers have been given new appointments, while six others have been posted to different defence and inter-service establishments.
The development was confirmed in a statement on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
He said the reshuffle was designed to improve decision-making, strengthen coordination among commands, and enhance readiness in tackling security challenges across the country.
According to the statement, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans, while AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun takes charge as Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye has been named Group Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited Group of Companies.
Other key changes include AVM Precious Amadi as Chief of Operations, AVM Nnamdi Ananaba as Chief of Air Intelligence, AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe as Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation, and AVM Ahmed Dari as Chief of Training. The Transformation and Innovation Branch will now be led by AVM Mohammed Ibrahim.
“In the logistics and engineering domains, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina has been appointed Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Michael Onyebashi assumes command as Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command,” the statement read. “AVM David Pwajok becomes Chief of Communication and Information Systems, while AVM John Ukeh takes charge as Air Provost Marshal.”
It further announced AVM Simon Peter as Managing Director of NAFIL Housing and Construction Company and AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka as Air Secretary. AVM Anthony Martins will now serve as Chief of Administration, while AVM Abubakar Sule has been named Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command.
Others include AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun, who will head NAF Farms; AVM Edward Gabkwet, now Chief of Civil-Military Relations; and AVM Osichinaka Ubadike, who becomes Deputy Commandant of AFIT.
Six more senior officers: AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe, have been redeployed to strengthen inter-service coordination and joint operations.
The announcement came barely 24 hours after Air Marshal Aneke officially assumed office and a day after the Nigerian Army carried out a similar reorganisation, signalling a broader wave of reforms within the Armed Forces.
