AIR Peace has dismissed as false reports suggesting that the British government barred the airline from operating London flights for seven years.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday, the airline described the reports as “deliberate falsehood” aimed at straining relations between the company and the British authorities.
“Our CEO never made such a statement accusing the British authorities. On the contrary, he commended them for their cooperation in making Air Peace’s UK operations seamless,” the management said.
The clarification follows viral social media posts claiming that the airline’s chairman and CEO, Allen Onyema, accused the UK of blocking its access to the London route for years.
Air Peace insisted that the allegations were fabricated and “circulated with malicious intent.”
The airline emphasized that British regulators had been supportive of its expansion plans, adding that preparations were underway for the launch of its Abuja–London service scheduled for October 26, 2025.
Reassuring passengers of its commitment to global aviation, Air Peace said: “We remain dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and world-class services to the flying public.”
Air Peace currently operates several international routes, including Lagos–Dubai, Lagos–Johannesburg, and Lagos–Mumbai.
The London route, the airline said, would further boost competition and provide Nigerians with more affordable travel options.
This is not the first time the carrier has faced hurdles abroad.
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates imposed restrictions on its flights during a diplomatic row with Nigeria, forcing Air Peace to suspend its Dubai operations.
