Airtel Nigeria has announced plans to strengthen its sustainability efforts through new community initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and social impact.
The disclosure was made while receiving awards at the Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards recently, where Airtel was recognised for its contributions to sustainability and employee engagement.
In a statement to The Punch, Airtel highlighted its commitment to environmental and social sustainability, building on successful initiatives such as the Baadun Lagos Beach Clean-Up.
The beach clean-up, which mobilised employees to address environmental challenges, was celebrated as a core part of the company’s strategy to foster a cleaner, healthier ecosystem. Speaking on the wins, Airtel Nigeria CEO, Dinesh Balsingh, emphasised the importance of sustainability to the company.
“These awards are a testament to our core belief that businesses have a responsibility to drive positive change in society. The Baadun Beach Clean-Up is more than just an environmental effort. “It is part of our Employee Volunteer Scheme initiative, a programme that encourages Airtel employees to engage in community services and social impact initiatives.” Airtel Nigeria Director, Corporate Communications & CSR, Femi Adeniran, added, “We inspired communities to take action for a sustainable future.
“In the same vein, our internal communication and employee engagement initiatives are equally focused on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and outstanding customer service.”
The 2024 LaPRIGA Awards brought together the public relations industry’s leading lights to celebrate innovation, strategic leadership, and measurable impact.
Airtel said its double wins underscore its status as a transformative force in Nigeria’s PR sector, setting benchmarks in sustainability and organisational communication.
