Nigeria’s glorious journey at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) ended in stunning fashion — and with a clean sweep of the tournament’s top individual honours, Footynaija.com reports.

Rasheedat Ajibade, the Super Falcons’ influential captain, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after leading her side to a historic 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in Rabat.

The winger midfielder won three Player of the Match awards during the tournament and playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s push for their record-extending 10th title.

The most outstanding Super Falcons star in the final match against Morocco was Esther Okoronkwo. The AFC Toronto forward had a hand in all of Nigeria’s three goals, netting the penalty that kickstarted the comeback and assisting the other two.

For her contribution, Okoronkwo was named the Player of the Match.

Between the sticks, Chiamaka Nnadozie was immense. The Brighton goalkeeper was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, conceding just three goals throughout the tournament.

Interim coach Justin Madugu was recognised for his tactical acumen and calm leadership, earning the Coach of the Tournament award.

Despite finishing runners-up, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak took home the Golden Boot with five goals, while South Africa’s discipline and professionalism earned them the Fair Play Award.
