Akinterinwa vows to win APC gov primary

Less than 24 hours to the primary of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, one of the frontline governorship aspirants, Wale Akinterinwa, has expressed optimism that the primary would be successful.

He declared that he was going to be victorious in the poll and would be the standard-bearer of the ruling party in the forthcoming November governorship poll.

reports that the ruling APC on Thursday appointed the Kogi State Governor, Mr Usman Ododo, and a former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, to superintend the primary election slated for Saturday (tomorrow). The party also assigned Ododo to head the seven-man Primary Election Committee set up to conduct the shadow poll while Omo-Agege will serve as the Secretary.

Akinterinwa who spoke with journalists at Ile Oluji, the headquarters of the Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state on Thursday evening, said he was ready for the contest.

The former Commissioner for Finance said his team had campaigned to all party members across all the 18 local government areas of the state, and his team were warmly received by the party members.

He said, “I expect that on Saturday, we will come out as the winners of the primaries, by the grace of God. I won’t be surprised if aspirants start stepping down for me. Some of them (aspirants) are reaching out to me.”

On the appointment of Governor Ododo as the chairman of the primary election committee, Akinterinwa said “I expect that the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, I don’t know him, but I believe he is a man of integrity, a man who has capacity. Obviously, for choosing him to come and conduct the election here (Ondo State), the party hierarchy must know that he is capable of doing a good job.
