The delegation, sent by President Bola Tinubu, will formally deliver a letter conveying the President’s sympathy and condolences to the Acting Head of the Vatican. The delegation includes Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese Matthew Hassan Kukah, and Archbishop of Abuja Diocese Ignatius Ayua Kaigama. President Tinubu had earlier joined Christians worldwide to mourn the Pope’s passing, describing him as “a humble servant of God, a tireless champion of the poor, and a guiding light for millions.” The President noted that the Pope’s death, coming after Easter celebrations, symbolizes a sacred return to his Maker, offering renewed hope to Christians globally.
