Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has joined the All Progressives Congress after dumping the People’s Democratic Party.
He announced this move on Friday, during an event held at the Government House in Uyo.
Eno said the decision followed three months of wide consultation with critical stakeholders across the state.
His defection marked a big political shift in the state, as the governor had previously been a strong member of the PDP.
Speaking at the defection ceremony , Governor Eno stated “I have decided to progressively move to the All Progressives Congress. Let me assure you that our government has always been an inclusive government, and that will never change.
“After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have decided to progressively move to the APC.”
His decision to switch parties adds to the growing number of politicians moving to the ruling party.
The event was attended by several APC leaders from different parts of the country.
