Abia State Governor Alex Otti welcomed the EU Ambassador to Nigeria, opening new doors for students through Erasmus scholarships, academic exchange, and study abroad opportunities.

Naijaonpoint Media reports that the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Gautier Mignot, on Wednesday visited Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, where he held an interactive session with students and management of the institution as part of the EU lecture series across Nigerian higher institutions.

The engagement provided students with the opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and contribute to discussions on Europe–Nigeria relations.

Ambassador Mignot highlighted several educational opportunities available to Nigerians, including the Erasmus scholarship scheme, intra-African academic exchange programs, and post-doctoral research under the Horizon initiative. He said these platforms were created to expand access to world-class universities and promote academic mobility.

The session was attended by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, the Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, and the Director-General of the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), Architect Uche Ukeje.

The envoy urged students to take advantage of global educational opportunities, stressing that such initiatives are designed to strengthen Nigeria’s human capital through international academic collaboration.
