This, according to him, proved that the Minister listens and has the thoughts of the people at heart. Musa said: “I came to Zamani TV to express my gratitude to Profession Pateh. A few days ago, we reached out to him regarding the challenges faced by individuals who struggle to get dialysis. “The expense for dialysis at Teaching Hospitals was approximately ₦37,500. Recently, a young man required dialysis and needed to undergo the procedure twice. Unfortunately, he has since passed away; may his soul rest in peace. “He was in dire need of treatment but lacked the financial means. “We collectively decided to write to Minister Ali Pateh, urging that the cost of dialysis be subsidized or made free for those in need. “He assured us of his support, and just yesterday, we learned from the news that he has taken action on this issue, resulting in a reduction of the dialysis cost to ₦12,000 across all six geopolitical zones of the country. “Our initial request was for the cost of dialysis to be subsidized or eliminated entirely. Thankfully, the Minister intervened, and the price has now been reduced to ₦12,000 nationwide.” “We remain optimistic that, in the near future, dialysis will be provided free of charge throughout the country. “Our confidence in making this request was bolstered by the actions of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who has ensured that dialysis is free in his state since 2019. “This inspired us to pursue our request, and we are grateful to those close to the Minister who ensured our letter was received and responded to positively,” Musa stated.
The Bauchi state chapter of the Northern Youth Assembly (NYA) has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration following the recent announcement by the Federal Ministry of Health regarding the reduction of dialysis from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000.
