The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking of Persons (NAPTIP) has invited Nigerian musician and internet sensation, Darlington Okoye popularly known as Speed Darlington for questioning.
In a letter dated May 28 and addressed to the singer, the agency said it was formally inviting Okoye to appear before it regarding a viral video where he admitted to having sex with a minor.
The letter was titled, “Invitation For Clarification Regarding Online Content Related to Alleged Sexual Offences Involving Minor”.
Recall that Okoye had in a viral video stated that the hotel attendant had cleaned the bloodstained sheets which he used to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
His video was shared on Instagram had elicited outrage among Nigerians both offline and online.
He has since denied his claim in a second video where he claimed that the content was created for public relations purposes.
However, in its letter to Okoye, NAPTIP stated that if substantiated his actions constitute offences under the Trafficking in Persons(Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015 and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The letter added, “You are hereby invited to appear in person for an interview as regards the alleged actions on Friday, May 30, 2025, by 9 am at the NAPTIP Headquarters: 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, FCT.”
Okoye was also advised by the agency to bring along with him any legal representation or documents that he may consider relevant to the investigation on the matter.
