Former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has called on the opposition coalition to resist rigging in upcoming elections, citing the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
Amaechi made this call while addressing a crowd at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Amaechi’s call to action comes as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other mainstream political platforms in Rivers State join forces in a bid to liberate Nigerians from the current administration come 2027, which he accused of inflicting unending and uncontrollable hunger on innocent citizens.
“We will resist rigging because I am hungry and Nigerians are hungry,” Amaechi declared, emphasizing the need for the opposition coalition to stand strong against electoral malpractices.
He criticized the current administration for its alleged executive rascality, administrative incompetence, autocratic invasion , undemocratic suspension of our collective constitution to act in a strange presidential fiat and unwarranted hunger.
He said: “It is most unpatriotic and self inflicted lie for this government to think of surviving massive resistance , thinking of victory in 2027 presidential election, in the face of prevailing hunger , untold hardship, uncontrollable death , executive rascality, inflation , ceaseless loot of economy, echoistic suspension of constitution and cosmetics governance.”
