Amber Rose is standing firmly by Nicki Minaj as the rapper faces criticism for speaking openly about her political views.
Rose, who became a vocal supporter of Donald Trump in 2024 and even spoke at the Republican National Convention, praised Minaj during a recent conversation at AmericaFest. In comments later shared by TMZ, Rose applauded her longtime friend for refusing to stay silent.
“I think she did a great job, an amazing job,” Rose said. “We live in a free country. She has a right to her own political opinion just like everyone else does.”
The model and entrepreneur also addressed backlash suggesting Minaj’s support of Trump could alienate LGBTQ+ fans. “She didn’t say anything wrong,” Rose insisted. “She didn’t say anything about the LGBTQ+ community at all.” Rose added that accusations of homophobia are unfair.
“I’m not homophobic. My assistant has been with me for 11 years. He’s Black and gay. I have a bunch of trans friends, so does Nicki.”
Rose continued, “I don’t know why people twist our words or think because we endorse Trump that we just hate gay people and trans people. That’s just not true.”
Over the weekend, Minaj made headlines with a surprise appearance at AmericaFest, where she praised Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
“Dear young men, you have amazing role models,” Minaj told the crowd, adding that she has felt increasingly compelled to speak out on political and global issues in recent months.
