THE former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, has reiterated the need to uphold the principle of rotational presidency ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that it is essential for justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria’s political system.
Amosun made the remarks while addressing supporters during activities marking his 68th birthday celebration at the Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
He urged Nigerians to show greater support and understanding for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and called on his supporters to remain resolute, adding that he would soon disclose his next political move.
According to the former governor, President Tinubu’s leadership serves not only the interests of the South-West but those of the entire country.
“In the interest of Nigeria, we must respect rotation. The North has had eight years under President Muhammadu Buhari, and it is now the turn of the South with President Tinubu. Anyone who truly loves Nigeria should support this arrangement,” Amosun said.
He added that his support for the President was not driven by personal interest but by a belief that Tinubu represents the collective interests of the South and the nation at large.
Amosun also appealed to party members across Ogun State to remain loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s economic reforms and policy direction, which he described as difficult but necessary measures for national development and economic recovery.
