Ana de Armas is entering final negotiations to join an upcoming Cameron Diaz movie. De Armas’ most recent blockbuster role was the John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina, which was released in theaters on June 6. She also starred alongside Sydney Sweeney and Vanessa Kirby in Eden, which debuted at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in the United States on August 22, 2025.
According to Deadline, de Armas is now in final talks to join director Grant Singer’s Reenactment. No plot details have been revealed for the film yet, but Diaz and Benicio del Toro have already been cast. Production is set to begin soon in Los Angeles and producer Patrick Wachsberger of 193 will be selling the project at this week’s American Film Market.
Reenactment is the second feature film Singer has directed, having primarily been a music video and commercial director in the past. He has previously directed movie videos for Taylor Swift, the Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Camila Cabello, and Travis Scott.
Singer’s first feature-length movie, Reptile, was a crime thriller that became a major streaming hit on Netflix. It also starred del Toro, and the actor and filmmaker co-wrote the screenplay alongside Benjamin Brewer. Black Label Media, which produced Reptile, are producing Reenactment as well.
As another upcoming Cameron Diaz movie, Reenactment continues her acting return after a 10-year hiatus from the industry. Diaz’s comeback began with Netflix’s action-comedy Back in Action, where she reunited with her former co-star Jamie Foxx. Back in Action went on to become the streamer’s seventh most-watched English-language movie of all time with 147.2 million views.
Diaz has also completed filming on Jonah Hill’s dark comedy film Outcome and is starring in another Netflix action-comedy movie, Bad Day. Her most high-profile upcoming role is for Shrek 5, where she will reprise the role of Fiona. The long-awaited sequel is set to be released on June 30, 2027.
As for del Toro, the news of his Reenactment casting comes after his performance received stellar reviews in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. Del Toro and One Battle After Another co-star Sean Penn are among those who have been predicted to receive Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor.
With Ana de Armas in final negotiations to join Reenactment and the movie entering production soon, it likely will not be long until plot details and the genre of the project are revealed.
