Anambra Decides: INEC Nears Full Result Upload With 75.86% On IReV

IREV anambra election 1536x826 1

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 75.86 per cent of results from the Anambra State governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

A check by Naijaonpoint on the portal at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday showed that 4,339 polling unit results had been uploaded out of the expected 5,720.

The rapid upload comes barely four hours after voting ended across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Earlier in the day, voting commenced around 8:30 a.m. in many of the polling units. The exercise was largely peaceful but marred by low voter turnout and widespread allegations of vote-buying in several communities.

Observers and candidates had raised concerns over the monetisation of the process as reports continued to surface throughout the day.

Although 16 political parties participated in the election, four candidates have emerged as the leading contenders:

Charles Soludo (APGA – incumbent)

Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC)

George Moghalu (Labour Party)

John Chuma-Nwosu (African Democratic Congress – ADC)
