Anambra State’s security chiefs convened for a closed-door meeting on Monday to formulate strategies and align security efforts in anticipation of President Bola Tinubu’s visit scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The five-hour meeting brought together top officials from key security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (retd.).

According to a statement released by the state police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the session focused on reviewing current security intelligence, assessing potential threats, and implementing enhanced security measures in Anambra’s capital city and other strategic locations.

He said the deliberations were centered on planning joint operations, coordinating patrols, and deploying surveillance strategies to ensure safety during the President’s visit.

According to Ikenga, the session also addressed operational readiness, inter-agency cooperation, and contingency plans to handle various scenarios during the high-profile event.

“The Anambra State security chiefs convened today, Monday, May 5, 2025, in a closed-door meeting to strengthen security arrangements ahead of the scheduled visit of the President to Anambra State—popularly known as the Light of the Nation—on Thursday, May 8, 2025,” the statement read.

Ikenga stated that the comprehensive security measures reflect Anambra’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the President, dignitaries, and the general public.

The police spokesman added that the security architecture aims to maintain peace and stability across the state throughout the visit.

During his visit, President Tinubu is expected to commission several “legacy” projects completed by Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
