The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Oluchukwu Anyaoku after a viral online video showed him allegedly issuing violent threats and vowing to destroy police formations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said operatives attached to the Obosi Division acted swiftly once the video surfaced on social media.

According to him, “the suspect was traced, arrested and taken into custody for questioning shortly after the video was intercepted by our operatives on 2nd December 2025.”

SP Ikenga confirmed that a firearm and a cutlass were recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest. He added that early observations suggest that the individual may require professional medical assessment.

“Preliminary observations indicate that the suspect may need professional medical evaluation, and the Command is already following the appropriate procedures in that regard,” he said.

He further disclosed that the matter has been escalated for deeper scrutiny:
“The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a comprehensive investigation and review of all available information already gathered.”

The Anambra State Police Command urged residents to remain calm, assuring the public that all threats to peace and security will continue to be addressed promptly and professionally.
