WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the upcoming November 8 Anambra governorship election, Governor Charles Soludo, has expressed strong confidence in his party’s chances, stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks the grassroots presence to compete effectively in the state. Speaking in an interview yesterday, Soludo said APGA would approach the election with the mindset of underdogs, despite their strong position. Responding to comments about federal influence in elections, Soludo questioned the comparison with other states. “The premise about federal might needs to be scrutinized. If you look at Imo and Kogi, the incumbent APC governments were re-elected. In Edo, APC remains strong with Senate and House seats. Those were competitive races,” he said. “In Anambra, however, APC has never had a solid base. They don’t even have a single councillor. In past elections, including local and general polls, they’ve struggled to win even 3–4% of the votes. You can’t build something on nothing.” Soludo emphasized his trust in the electoral process and institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the President, and the federal government, to ensure a fair election. “I believe in democracy. We’re not taking anything for granted. Every election is a serious contest, and we’ll approach it as such—even as underdogs,” he added. While reiterating his commitment to the campaign, Soludo also highlighted his focus on governance. “My priority remains delivering on the mandate I was given—improving security, boosting the economy, increasing school enrollment, enhancing healthcare, and pushing forward with our infrastructure development.”
