Anambra Speaker Reacts To Death Of Murdered Assembly Member Representing Onitsha North 1, Kidnapped Since Dec 24th

With a heavy heart, we mourn the tragic loss of our dear colleague, Hon. Justice Azuka, member representing Onitsha North 1, whose life was cut short in an act of unimaginable cruelty. Since his abduction on December 24, 2024, we had fervently hoped and prayed for his safe return, but today, we are faced with a devastating reality.

Hon. Justice Azuka was a dedicated lawmaker, a true representative of his people who approached his legislative duties with passion, commitment, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. He championed policies and motions aimed at improving the lives of his constituents and contributed meaningfully to debates on the floor of the House. He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a man of integrity who approached the art of legislative governance with diligence and humility.

His untimely demise has cast a shadow of grief over the Anambra State House of Assembly, where he was not just a colleague but a brother. We will deeply miss his intellect, his dedication to service, and his vision for a better Anambra.

We commend the security agencies for their diligence in apprehending the perpetrators and urge them to ensure that justice takes its course. This tragic event is a stark reminder of the need for collective action in tackling security challenges in our state.

On behalf of the Anambra State House of Assembly, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of late Azuka, the people of Onitsha North 1, and the entire Ndi Anambra. His memory will live on through the positive impact he made both at the State Assembly and life. We shall honor him by continuing to advocate for a safer and more secure Anambra.
