The incumbent governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election, securing an overwhelming margin over his opponents.
Naijaonpoint reports that Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), cast his vote at PU 002, Ofiyi Square, Isuofia Ward, in Aguata Local Government Area.
At the end of sorting and counting conducted by the INEC presiding officer, Soludo polled 417 votes, far ahead of his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who managed just four votes.
The ACCORD party candidate scored one vote. A total of 933 voters were registered at the polling unit, with 430 accredited.
INEC recorded 422 valid votes, while eight were declared invalid.
BVAS Breakdown Disrupts Final Minutes Of Voting
Voting at the unit was abruptly halted after the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) malfunctioned toward the end of the exercise.
The presiding officer announced the immediate closure of voting following the technical breakdown, leaving some intending voters unable to cast their ballots.
Several residents expressed disappointment as they walked away after waiting to be accredited.
Despite the BVAS challenge, sorting and counting proceeded without disruption, with the presiding officer announcing the results at the unit shortly after the close of polls.
