The increase in battery capacity has been considerable this year, for some phones. Thanks’ mainly due to silicon-carbon batteries becoming more widespread. Well, in 2025, Android flagships could actually start using 8,000mAh battery packs.

Android flagships could start using 8,000mAh batteries next year

According to Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known Chinese tipsters, it will happen. He said that the Realme GT8 Pro is currently being tested in three different configurations.

The first configuration includes a 7,000mAh battery, while it supports 120W wired charging. That one can charge in 42 minutes from 0-100%. The second configuration includes a 7,500mAh battery, supports 100W wired charging, and charges in 55 minutes.

The last configuration comes with an 8,000mAh battery, supports 80W wired charging, and can be fully charged in 70 minutes. If the last one ends up being chosen, the Realme GT8 Pro will feature an 8,000mAh battery.

It’s easily possible that some other smartphones will do something similar next year. We’ve recently seen some smartphones with rather large battery packs, thanks to silicon-carbon batteries.

A number of smartphones have seen battery capacity increases this year

The OnePlus 13, for example, got an increased capacity from 5,400mAh in OnePlus 12, to 6,000mAh. The OPPO Find X8 Pro includes a 5,910mAh battery, while the RedMagic 10 Pro+ has a whopping 7,050mAh battery on the inside. No, the phone is not thicker or heavier because of it.

Once the global OnePlus 13 model arrives, it will have the largest battery in the US market. That will be a 6,000mAh battery, in case you missed that detail earlier in the article. It’s also expected to offer 80W charging in the US, 100W in Europe, plus 50W wireless charging, and it will support reverse wireless charging, of course.

It will be interesting to see how many smartphones will go over the 7,000mAh mark in 2025, as some will apparently jump over to the 8,000mAh mark.
