Hypeman and MC, MC Fish, has finally addressed the long-running controversy surrounding the collapse of his marriage to Nollywood actress Anita Joseph. He rebutted claims that he relied on her financially during their union.
In a series of heated Instagram Story posts, MC Fish dismissed the narrative that he lived off his ex-wife, describing such claims as false, insulting, and deliberately misleading. He emphasised his long-standing career in the entertainment industry, stating, “I’ve been an MC/Hypeman for over 15 years. You will be the fool of 2026 to think that I don’t work for my money. Just because you can’t afford me doesn’t mean I don’t work.”
Addressing the marriage directly, MC Fish noted that meeting Anita Joseph while working eventually led to their marriage, but he strongly rejected claims that she bore the financial responsibilities alone. “When the marriage didn’t work out, the next thing people said was that the woman fed me. I dare her to say she took care of the bills by herself during the five years of our marriage. There are imbeciles everywhere,” he stated.
MC Fish warned that he had deliberately avoided sharing details about their marriage, but suggested he might respond if provoked further. “Let’s not start discussing what went on in our marriage, but if anyone lies about me, things will get messy and names will be dropped, so don’t try me,” he added.
In another post, MC Fish claimed he played a significant role in shaping Anita Joseph’s public image and career during their marriage. “I made her complete and whole as a woman in the eyes of society. Just because the story ended badly doesn’t mean you should ignore the truth,” he declared.
He further alleged that he supported her professionally behind the scenes, saying, “I helped you set up a business and aided in the monetisation of your social media. I was your PA, manager, and PR at various points. You didn’t move around like a VIP until you met me,” he claimed.
MC Fish also insisted that he introduced security, protocol, and structure to her lifestyle, questioning why he is now labelled a “gold digger.” “I was the one who started providing security and protocol for you. Yet somehow, I’m the gold digger,” he wrote.
Concluding his outburst, the hypeman stressed that the length of their marriage should silence critics. “An Igbo woman stayed married to me for five years, and you clowns think she would have done so if I wasn’t pulling my weight?”
