Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and Member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a resignation letter dated November 11, 2025, addressed to the Zaitawa Ward Chairperson, Koki stated that the ongoing internal disputes at the party’s centre had made it increasingly difficult for him to deliver effective representation to his constituents.
“I have taken this decision because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people with the desired representation in the House of Representatives,” Koki wrote.
He expressed gratitude to the NNPP for providing him with a platform to serve, describing the experience as invaluable, and noted that his resignation is in accordance with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution and the party’s constitution.
Koki’s departure comes just two days after Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, left the NNPP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
