The lawmaker representing Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Asutan/Ibesikpo federal constituency of Akwa Ibom State, Esset Mark Udo, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced on the floor of the House during plenary on Tuesday, 22nd July.
Udo said he dumped the PDP due to the irreconcilable differences and crisis that have rocked the party at the national level.
He added that his defection would not affect his legislative duties, and he is ready to work with his new party.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), hence it is not capable of making credible political judgement.
The ruling party stated this while replying to a statement by the PDP that President Bola Tinubu is unfit to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Monday, asserted that the party is the only one with the capacity to defeat President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress.
He described Tinubu as ‘bad market’, insisting that no individual would touch him in 2027.
In response, the APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, stated that Tinubu has the backing of patriotic Nigerians and they will stand by him in 2027.
Ibrahim, in an interview with Punch, compared the PDP to a mentally unstable individual who cannot comment on insanity.
