A Super Eagles attacker could move to Istanbul in the January transfer window, as Fenerbahce are looking to bolster their attack ahead of the second half of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Yellow Canaries are one of the giants of Turkish football. But they have failed to live up to the billing over the last 11 years. The last time they won a league title was in 2014.

Since then, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Trabzonspor, and Istanbul Basaksehir have all won it.

But in the last three years, their Istanbul neighbors Galatasaray have been the team to beat. They have won the Super Lig three times in a row.

The Cimbom have also been heavily investing in their squad, bringing in the likes of Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, and Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen last summer.

Nonetheless, Fenerbahce, who sit second behind Galatasaray in the Super Lig, have also been busy. In the summer, they signed players like Marco Asensio, Ederson, Kerem Akturkoglu, and a few others.

The Yellow Canaries now sit three points adrift of defending champions Galatasaray. In the Europa League, they sit 12th, with 11 points after six games, and they have a good shot at making the knockout rounds.

But ahead of the second half of the season, they are making plans to fortify their squad to be able to mount a challenge on the domestic scene and in Europe.

Fenerbahce To Move For Nathan Tella

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Fenerbahce have identified Super Eagles attacker Nathan Tella as a transfer target in the January window.

Tella joined Bayer Leverkusen from Southampton two years ago, but he has struggled to pin down a regular starting shirt at the club.

He has played under three coaches at Leverkusen - Xabi Alonso, Erik Ten Hag, and Kasper Hjulmand. But he has never been a regular starter under any of them.

This season, he has featured in seven games, four of which have been off the bench.

Nonetheless, Fenerbahce see him as a player that can help them. The 26-year-old attacker is quick, skillful, and has an eye for goal. He is also very versatile, as he play play multiple positions in attack and as a full back.

Bayer Leverkusen value Tella at €15 million, but they are unwilling to sell him permanently. But they are willing to let him leave on loan until the end of the season.

If Fenerbahce can assure Tella of consistent game time, he will likely be open to the move.
