Nigerian-British boxing champion and former world heavyweight titleholder, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a road accident in Makun along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when the Lexus SUV conveying the boxer, with registration number KRD 850 HN, collided with a stationary truck under circumstances yet to be determined.
According to a source who participated in the rescue operation, Joshua sustained minor injuries, while two other persons reportedly died at the scene.
Another eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, disclosed that the crash happened shortly before Danco Filling Station on the expressway.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babasey, had yet to respond to enquiries regarding the incident.
The accident comes days after Joshua defeated Jake Paul in a heavyweight bout dubbed “Judgment Day,” which was held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
