Take a minute to think about the future of humanity powered by Artificial Intelligence. You either thought up a dystopian future or a tech utopia. Well, Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, imagines the latter. He recently wrote a lengthy blog post about what he thinks AI holds for humanity. Amodei dreams of an AI utopia.

Right now, we’re still at the very beginning of our new AI-driven world, and we’re just starting to see the potential effects. The effects that we’re seeing today are just a drop in the bucket compared to the grand visions that we have. We imagine super smart AIs that we’ll use along with our flying cars.

Several companies believe that the key to our ideal AI future is AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), basically an AI that’s as smart as a human being. Several AI professionals have expressed their opinions as to when we’ll achieve that milestone, and some point to us reaching it within the next 10 years.

The CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, has expressed the kind of effects that he wants AI to have on humanity, and they involve some pretty starry-eyed ambitions. Anthropic is the Google and Amazon-backed AI company that trains the Claude 3 model. This is one of the more popular models on the market, and there’s even a dedicated app.

In his blog post, titled Machines of Loving Grace, he details some of the things that he wants AI to do in the future. The list includes ending poverty, curing depression, eliminating PTSD, and advancing the field of medicine 10-fold. These are some pretty ambitious goals, but we’re still figuring out what AI can really do.

While there are several people who fear the “Terminator X Matrix” future, many people believe that AI will have a positive impact on humanity. However, he did mention that there’s no certainty of his ideal future. “…no one can know the future with any certainty or precision, and the effects of powerful AI are likely to be even more unpredictable than past technological changes, so all of this is unavoidably going to consist of guesses,” he said in his post.

The question remains whether AI technology will be sustainable in the future. The technology is getting more expensive and taxing on the environment.

We also can’t forget about the millions of jobs that could be lost as workers are shoved aside for AI models. With prices on the rise and jobs on the decline, will there be enough money to fund these gigantic AI projects?
