Fresh details have emerged surrounding the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with multiple sources confirming that President Bola Tinubu advised the former Kano State governor to step down in preparation for an ambassadorial appointment.

Contrary to the official explanation citing health concerns, insiders told Saturday Vanguard that Ganduje’s exit was orchestrated to pave the way for his inclusion in the next batch of Nigerian ambassadors to be announced soon.

“Due to the fact that Ganduje has been pencilled down for an ambassadorial position, President Bola Tinubu asked him to resign,” a source familiar with the development disclosed.

The source clarified that no other member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) has been asked to step aside, underscoring that Ganduje’s exit was a targeted move tied to his next national assignment.

“Other members of the NWC will remain in office. Only Ganduje was asked to resign,” the insider further stated.

The APC is now preparing to convene a special convention to elect a new national chairman. While the date for the convention is yet to be officially announced, the development suggests that the party leadership reshuffle is far from over.

The source added, “We are planning a special convention where a new chairman will be elected to run the affairs of the party. It also means that the list of ambassadors will be announced soon.”
