The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the chairmanship seats in Ikorodu Local Government Area and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area following Saturday’s local government elections in Lagos State.

Naijaonpoint reports that the results announced by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) in the early hours of Sunday showed a clear victory for the ruling party in both councils.

At exactly 12:35 a.m., the Returning Officer for Ikorodu LGA, Aregbesola Yekinni, declared Prince Adedayo Ladega of APC as the duly elected chairman after he polled 38,946 votes.

Ladega’s closest contenders were Princess Saidat Odofin of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 2,592 votes, and Abdulazeez Awesu of the Labour Party (LP) with 2,753 votes. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate garnered a meagre 68 votes.

In Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, LASIEC’s Returning Officer, Arimoro Priscilla Oluwakanyinsola, announced Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun of the APC as the winner with 15,015 votes.

Aroyewun defeated Liadi Olawale of the PDP, who secured only 341 votes, sealing another decisive win for the APC.

Reacting to the outcome, the outgoing Ikorodu LG Chairman, Wasiu Adesina, hailed the results as a resounding endorsement of the APC’s leadership and performance at the grassroots.

“This victory is emphatic. I thank the good people of Ikorodu for their overwhelming support and trust in our party,” Adesina said.

He assured residents that the newly elected leaders would continue to deliver democratic dividends and build on the foundation laid by previous administrations.
