WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned reports that it approved the inauguration of a “Leadership Council” in the Delta State chapter of the party. In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the NWC clarified that it had not approved the establishment or operation of such a body in Delta State. “The said ‘Leadership Council’ is not a body created or recognized under the Party’s Constitution, which clearly outlines the statutory organs, structures, and committees of the Party, along with their respective powers and functions,” Morka stated. The party emphasised that the APC Constitution does not provide for a “Leadership Council” as a statutory or ad-hoc structure within its framework. “The “Leadership Council” is not one of such constitutional organs, adhoc – structures or committees of the Party,” the statement added. The clarification comes amid reports in some sections of the media (not THE WHISTLER) claiming that the council had been sanctioned by the party’s national leadership. The APC urged members and the public to disregard such reports while reaffirming its commitment to upholding the constitutionally recognised structures of the party.
