THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially named President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential race.

The announcement was made today by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje during the party’s national summit held in Abuja.

Ganduje, speaking on behalf of the National Working Committee, affirmed the endorsements from across the party and declared Tinubu as the exclusive candidate for the next presidential election.

“As the party chairman and representing the National Working Committee, which is the legally recognized body for fielding candidates, I hereby declare President Bola Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the APC,” Ganduje stated.

The event was attended by APC governors, ministers, and other top-ranking party members.

The summit coincided with the celebration of Tinubu’s second anniversary in office, during which cabinet members presented highlights of the administration’s accomplishments.

Despite criticism over some of Tinubu’s key economic policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, party leaders expressed strong support for his leadership and a second term.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio defended Tinubu’s record, saying, “It was tough in 2023, but 2027 will be different. More states will join us.”

Tinubu’s endorsement comes at a time when the opposition remains fragmented, with several high-profile defections to the APC, including a sitting governor and members of the National Assembly.

Speaking at the summit, President Tinubu acknowledged the defections, describing them as part of the political process in a democratic system.

“This is the game,” he said. “We are in a constitutional democracy, and I appreciate the support.”

The endorsement solidifies Tinubu’s path toward re-election, even as opposition parties continue to struggle to unite against the ruling APC.
