The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused some of its members of undermining the party’s interests by publicly endorsing the performance of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released Wednesday by the APC Media Team and signed by its head, Victor Izuogu, the party criticized those members for abandoning the core principles of progressivism, accusing them of engaging in “cheap praise-singing” in pursuit of personal gain.

“It’s embarrassing that individuals who once claimed to stand for change have reduced themselves to singing praises to secure personal benefits. They have traded the people’s trust for crumbs,” the statement read.

The APC also criticized the Mbah-led administration for allegedly overburdening residents through excessive taxation under the guise of infrastructure development. While acknowledging the importance of road expansion projects, the party argued that the government’s actions lacked consideration for citizen rights.

“If property owners have legitimate government allocations or approval papers, they deserve compensation,” the team noted. “Destroying people’s property without due compensation is unacceptable.”

The statement further urged party members and the general public to hold the government accountable for ongoing security challenges in the state, particularly the persistent kidnappings along the Opi-Ugwuogo road and the farmer-herder clashes in Uzo Uwani.

“No amount of praise-singing will hide the reality on ground,” the party warned, calling on residents to remain vigilant and reject what it described as media-driven deception.

The Enugu State Government has not responded to the APC’s allegations as efforts to get reaction was unsuccessful.
