Former Governor of Jigawa State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of betraying Nigerians and worsening their suffering.

Speaking at the expanded caucus meeting of the PDP in Dutse, Lamido said both the Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu administrations had failed to live up to promises of good governance.

The PDP stalwart said successive APC governments had plunged citizens into poverty while enriching themselves.

“Since Buhari and now Tinubu, Nigerians are suffering. Poverty is everywhere, youths are jobless, and the economy is collapsing. They say they are fighting for Nigeria, but in reality, they only fight for themselves and their pockets,” Lamido said.

Lamido recalled his political activism dating back to the 1970s, insisting that he had always aligned with the struggle for democracy and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

“I have been part of this struggle since the 1970s. I know what it means to fight for democracy and for the poor. Tinubu’s government, just like Buhari’s, has failed Nigerians. Instead of relief, there is corruption, hardship, and arrogance of power,” he added.

The former governor urged Nigerians not to lose hope, stressing that the PDP remained the only party with the experience and capacity to rescue the country from what he described as the APC’s misrule.

He called on party members to remain united ahead of the next general elections, promising that the PDP would continue to position itself as a credible alternative to the ruling party.
