Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), have assured the Kebbi State Government and the families of the abducted students of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga, of their full support as rescue operations continue.
Naijaonpoint reports that the forum’s chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, gave the assurance on Thursday, November 20, in Birnin Kebbi during a solidarity visit following Monday’s attack in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
Uzodimma described the invasion as both “tragic and unacceptable,” noting that the visit was aimed at identifying with victims’ families and the state government.
“It is painful, and we deemed it necessary to identify with you at this difficult time,” he said.
Uzodimma said APC governors remain united behind President Bola Tinubu as the administration works to strengthen national security and contain rising attacks across the country.
“We are your brothers in unity, standing firmly behind President Bola Tinubu to ensure that national security is strengthened and that this ugly trend of insecurity is curbed,” he said.
“As governors in the PGF, we are united and committed to doing whatever it takes to secure Nigeria.”
Responding, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris thanked the delegation for the visit, saying President Tinubu had personally assured the state and the parents of the abducted students that the Federal Government was taking all necessary steps to ensure their safe return.
“We have already directed clerics to pray for the safe return of the students and for peace in the state,” Idris added.
The delegation also included Governors Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Ahmed Usman-Ododo of Kogi, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo.
Other dignitaries present were the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Tanko Sununu; Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah; Hon. Bello Ka’oje; and Hon. Kabiru Tukura.
