The President of the Ebonyi State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Dr Eze Emmanuel Eze, says the formal adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has caused confusion in the camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eze commended the unveiling of the ADC as the official political platform for the opposition coalition, stating that the move is both strategic and timely.
Naijaonpoint reports that the coalition formerly took over the ADC’s structure at an event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Wednesday.
Reacting to the development, Eze said the adoption has unsettled the APC and has sent a signal of imminent collapse to the ruling party.
“The coalition has achieved one thing: the APC is now resorting to reactionary tactics. That, to me, is the beginning of the collapse of the house of cards that the APC actually represents,” Eze said.
He added that the sudden resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the APC National Chairman is further indication that all is not well in the party and the APC has no capacity to withstand pressure from a united opposition.
How Tinubu Can Redeem Himself
Eze added that President Bola Tinubu can still get in the good books of Nigerians if he does not seek re-election in 2027 and ensures the conduct of a credible, free and fair poll.
“Tinubu should explore just one option. Let him focus on conducting a credible election without having himself on the ballot. That way, Nigerians will forgive him his shortcomings, because we are a truly religious nation,” he advised.
He argued that, unlike the Obidient Movement, the APC is simply a ‘special purpose vehicle’ created solely for the acquisition of power rather than service to the people.
“For us in the Obidient Movement, we are focused on building a new Nigeria, where justice, peace, and progress moderate the distribution of national wealth and opportunities. In fact, for the Obidient Movement, an egalitarian society is all that matters,” he said.
The Obidient supporter lamented that economic burdens brought about by the current administration, which he said have pushed Nigerians into a state of heightened political awareness.
“Hunger and bad governance have kept Nigerians wide awake. Everybody is now vigilant. Nobody will wait to go to court instead of coming out to vote and settle scores at the polling booths,” he declared.
He said with the coming on board of the coalition, Nigerians now have a credible alternative to push out the APC.
“It has now dawned on us all that no politician rigs, buys votes, or steals elections to serve the people. APC’s focus was and still remains power grab and ostentatious display,” Eze added.
